Haplin Data Services sent me a postal notice that I was a Grand Slam winner.
However I MUST send them $10.00 in order to recieve my winnings.
I believe this is a postal scam!

I got an email few weeks ago and I don't really know if this i true . That I won A Microsoft Mega Jackpot Lottery. Hi I have been receiving lottery scam/fraud letters in South Africa which is truely unbelievable. Some even Using GOD as their witness, are there no shame in people and can the Microsoft and the UK and Euro lottery as well as BMW, Shell ,Heineken people not do something or even Yahoo for most of the email adress that are used are theirs, put a stop to this fraud.Is this really what our beutyfull world has become.A world full of fraud,murder,rape and drugs. People open up your eyes and get your life on the right track for God will not leave people who serves the Devil unpunished.

I was researching a letter and a check that came for my husband and found that someone had posted a similar letter here. I have been ignoring and shredding prior letters, but with the check enclosed, I felt I needed to learn more.
YES! These are fraud letters and counterfeit checks. Here is a website I found that has descriptions of scams and help for what to do next (especially if you've responded to one of these). They describe the way these fraud crime rings work. There is also an online database of lottery & sweepstakes scams and a tutorial to help people recognise when a letter is fraudulent.

I found out that I needed to take this letter to the post office marked ATTN: US Postal Inspector. This is because any fraud delivered within the contiguous United States of America using any official delivery system comes under the offices of the US Postal Inspector General's Fraud Investigation Unit.
