I was sent a check for $2,996.40.
I said to myself. Who wants to give me money?

I am a reporter for a newspaper in Richmond, Ky. A man came to see me yesterday who had recieved a letter and an original-looking check from Neff Engineering of Wisconsin along with a letter telling him he had won the Irish lottery.

i recently received an email saying i won the lottery and i am pissed off

I was sent a check for 2,996.90 and was told that this check was to cover the clearance fees of the lotto winnings of $115.500. I was to cash the check and send 2,846.50 to cover the fees to Claims agent Tony Edward of Zenith Financial Management Group and I would then receive a lump sum of $107,646 after a sponsors fee of $7,854.00 was deducted from my winnings. I deposited the check in my bank account and asked that a hold be put on the check, because I was suspious. The bank did not put a hold on the check until four days later when the check was returned. By this time my bank account was totally ruined, I had five overdraft charges and the fees just kept on coming. Of course I could not contact Zenith Financial Management Group and the bank refused to adjust my fees even though they are aware that I have been scamed. It will take months for me to correct this matter. My work check goes directly into my bank account and it will not be enough to cover the fees alone. I can't pay any of my bills. Watch out for these scams. I am devastated. Banks who know about these scams will not tell you because they make money through the fees generated by these scams. Can anybody do something about the constant scams perpetrated toward the regular people?
