I just received a check in the mail drawn on an account of Jewish Community Centers of Chicago for $2954.43 stating I won the Irish Lottery and I am supposed to call the number at the bottom of the letter to arrange to send these funds (after I deposit them, of course) to the North American sponsor. I happen to work for a bank and I know this is a scam. Folks, beware of this. This is the second such letter I have received in a month. The last one was a Canadian Lottery and the check was drawn on an account of Eastway Aviation. I forwarded the last one to the local and Federal authorities and will do the same with this one.

I received a letter in the mail today from Group Forum American Clearing House out in Delaware. They enclosed a check out to me for $3,990.00, but I read on and it said that this amount was placed "on hold". They also said I had to pay them a fee of $3,750.00 in order to get my reward of $45,010.00 in two days of receipt of my payment to them. The weird thing is that the payor on the check is Pearl Seafood Rest Ocean Nite out in Maryland. I asked my father about this and he said you never have to pay a fee when you win money, only taxes to the government and that is it. Please don't fall for this scam.

I just recieved an e-mail from the Powerball International Lottery Inc from London England that states I have won a consolation prize to the tune of 500,000.00 Pounds Sterling. Complete with coupon # and reference # and an e-mail address to contact. I have not done so as this seems very odd. I have never heard of this International Powerball Lottery and certainly have never bought a ticket or contacted them in any way. Anyone else out there heard of this or been contacted by this company?
