I got a check in the mail today for $2998.56, and i was so happy i thought we would be able to go on vacations our do updates on our car, but i just felt like something wasn't right. When i call the number on the letter it sounds like someones house voicemail. Only because there is no greeting then it said the voice mail eas full. Not only that if it is for a lottery was does the check say RENAISSANCE HOSPITALS, INC , and not the lotto company. Iam so glad this website was up even though it was hard to find.

a family friend recieved one of the Golden International Sweepstakes letters & money orders, the only difference is that this money order was supposedly drawn from the Belmont Savings Bank of Belmont, Massachusetts. what is being done to stop these company's from doing this again? and is there anything i can do on my end to help put a stop to this?

Of course it's a scam. Why would anyone offer to cash fake checks for thousands of dollars in exchange for $10? It is of course still illegal. He was even dumb enough to post what is probably his real address, so lets see if we can get the local police to pay him a visit and explain a few things...

If you received a check in the mail from some supposed lottery you never entered it is without a doubt a scam and the check will eventually turn out to be fake. Read the warnings and stories in this thread, or here where we have posted information on it:

The ones who should be notified is the US Postal Inspection Service as this is a case of mail fraud. Turn in the envelope, letter and check to them. You can get their contact details from the phone book, your local post office, or contact them through their website here:

If you cash the check you may receive the money for it into your account, but the check will still bounce regardless of what they tell you at the counter. And according to the law you will be responsible for paying back the amount, once again regardless of what they have told you at the bank. They may also charge you with check fraud if you can't pay back the amount. Do not cash the check, and if you have, do not spend the money, or you could get yourself into a lot of trouble.

I Got the same check and letter in the mail today. It was drawn from an account linked the the clothing store " The Limited" based in Columbus OH. The Check was drawn from The Bank of New York, in Newark Deleware. The contact I was to contact was Monica Davis of the Royal Imperial Financial Management Group at 90 Gardiner Street, Suite 401 Edmonton, AB 2T1 6G1. The contact number was 1-204-951-8103 Instead of taking the check to the bank, I am taking it to the police.
