My young sister recieved a letter from irish random international lotto in the mail with a check. Why is these happen she is only 16 year of age, how do these people get kid name and address if this is a scam. And what can we do to stop it. She is young and seeing a check for that much money she got her hope up.

I received a check today. I called the number and spoke to someone. She told me that I must have shopped at target or JC Penney and I was randomly entered into a lottery. I was very skeptical and asked lots of questions. She said to deposit the check and wait 5-10 days for it to clear. Then send that amount to where the letter was sent from. She spent a lot of time on the phone with me. She told me to call the number on the check if I was still unsure. I called the number on the check and spoke to a man at Paper Affair VI in Georgia. I aksed him tons of questions. This is what he said. He told me that many companys sponsor winners for the tax and fees. After the check clears (5-10 days) Send the money to the address on the letter. I said what's in it for you? He said they sponser the winners and they receive 10% of the winnings. So if I won 85,000 he will get 8,500 for sponsering me. I said so you're in it to make money. He said yes. I ended the call and decided to google the company that was on the check. The phone and address were the same. I tried to call the company back and got a voice mail message. Then they called me back while I was on the phone and didn't switch over.

I received a check for $2,981.92, to pay for a clearance fee to recieve my prize of $85,000. Boy was I excited! I thought of all the things I could do with that money. Be debt free, a new car or down payment for a house. But I checked into it before cashing the check and just saved my self the time, money and hassle of fraud. Cash your checks, send out your hard earn money, but NOT to them to ME!! I need it. I have vacations planned and I need a new jet ski. A nice new Sea-Doo or something would work out great. Also, if anyone has a condo or something in a resort area I could stay @ that would be nice too. Shoot, if enough of you send me western union checks I could retire.

Ok! For all of you that keep posting to this site with the same information and getting the same type of checks, YES THESE CHECKS ARE NOT VALID. Please do not cash them and what ever you do DO NOT SEND THE MONEY to the people scamming you. Each of these letters say the same thing.... Only about 17 names where drawn and you are the winner. If only 17 names where drawn, then why do we have so many postings in just the past 10 days? What the scammers are doing is getting you to cash a bad check and send them the money. Meanwhile the check will return and your held accountable. And NO you will not recieve the 80,000 dollars. You will be out 2999.00 plus fees for cashing a bad check!

I received a check in the mail for 1,900.00 saying it was from the Brittish Lotto. Was told to deposit it and send a check to the address on the certificate , somewhere in Canada, and I would receive my 65,000.oo winnings. I first told my sisiter about it who then looked it up on the internet to find out it was a big scam. I would love to forward it to the authorities but am not quite sure where to send it, but I don't want to see other innocent people taken by this scam.

Anyone who has received a check from Irish Random Lotto don't cash it. Turn it into your States Attorney in your county. This is a scam and for goodness sake don't send any money to anyone.I haven't come on here to make fun of anyone as some people do. I realize when your low income and something like this comes along we sometimes don't listen to our inner self that if it sounds to good to be true then it surely is. We need to do our very best to try to catch these people.Call the number if you can get through set them up. Get a name and address to send the money to and then give it to your States Attorney. Please don't cash these checks because you will have to pay back any money you spend out of them and might possibly be in trouble over it. Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
