I received a letter indicating that I won $65K and a real live check was sent with it with instructions to deposit the check and to contact Linda Fasco for instructions. The check comes from Bank of America and it is for $3,950.00. Supposedly I was selected from a lottery drawing based on a database of names, phone numbers, and addresses. How do I go about researching whether this is legitimate or a scam?

I just received a check for $2775 to expedite processing of $834,460 prize money that was shared among 17 other winners. This is supposedly a cashier's check. The $2775 has been deducted from the winnings.
There is an administration fee amount of (surprise) $2775.
Is this a scam or what?? If so how should I handle it
