Russian Internet will be protected from computer crimes

May 20, 2004, Vladimir Putin, the President of the Russian Federation, signed a decree "On measures to assure information security of the Russian Federation in the sphere of international informational exchange".
This current decree is mainly directed to maintain reliable protection of the Russian segment of the Web, network resources of state authorities from external threats of unauthorized impact.
The question is, above all, about preventing possible attempts to electronically break in and to obtain control over network resources of Russian governmental bodies with terrorist intents.
Realization of the decree in hand will increase stability of Internet resources of state authorities to influence of distributing network computer viruses able to cause serious harm to the spheres of state activity and economics whereat computer technologies are widely applied.
Measures provided for by the decree are directed to protect data of state secret and other restricted information.
Efficient fight against computer crimes and cyberterrorism is a key element of assuring national security, and the decree in question is aimed to maintain protection of the Russian Internet from cyber criminals and terrorists.
