Police have urged people in the East Riding to be on their guard to avoid becoming a victim of fraud online.
The warning comes after a man in the Driffield area reported receiving an email claiming to offer him a tax rebate to officers.
A Humberside Police spokesman said that the email made attempts to obtain people’s personal and banking details.
Householders have been warned not to give their personal or bank details out in response to such emails.
In this case, the resident did not reply to the email and contacted police instead.
