A PERVERT has been jailed after being found with hundreds of sick photographs and videos of children he brought into the country from Thailand.
A police raid on the home of William Beamson, 57, found a catalogue of pornographic images of children - including 76 video images of youngsters being abused by adults.

After being arrested, Beamson told police he collected the 389 indecent images of children, contained on up to 16 discs, during holidays in Thailand.

Notes were also found in his home detailing internet websites which contain child pornography.

Judge Peter Armstrong jailed Beamson after hearing he has a history of offences against children – including an indecent exposure offence in 1974 and an indecent assault in 1973.

Shaun Dodds, prosecuting at Teesside Crown Court, said the indecent images included 288 at level one, which is the lowest level of seriousness.

There were 20 at level two, three at level three, 76 video images at level four and two at level five, which is the most serious.

Mr Dodds added: "He said he goes away to Thailand every year for his holidays and brings them back.

"There was some 15 or 16 discs with child pornography on and he said he bought them in bulk by accident.

"He had written 'holiday pictures' on five of the discs that had child pornography contained on them."

Mr Dodds said a sexual offences order was imposed after Beamson appeared before town magistrates for the offence in October 2007.

But Beamson breached the terms of the order after being spotted in the street wearing a T-shirt showing an image of a young girl naked from the waist up, and having equipment which can be used to take photographs.

Beamson, of Grange Road, Hartlepool, admitted to 10 counts of possessing indecent images of children, and a single charge of breaching an interim sexual offences order.
Warren Grier, mitigating, said around 160 DVDs and videos containing pornography were found in the raid, but only a small number contained images of children.

He said that although a probation report on Beamson states he is in denial of his interest in child pornography, he would be willing to take part in a probation programme looking into the issue.

Judge Armstrong said: "You have convictions quite some time ago involving sex offences against children and from the evidence I have seen it is clear you have an unhealthy sexual interest in young girls.

"The 76 at level 4 depicted in video form moving images of children being subjected to sexual intercourse by adults and two images at level 5. It seems to me they are the most serious and they pass the threshold of custody."

Beamson was jailed for seven months, banned from working with children indefinitely and made to sign the sexual offenders register for 10 years.

He was also banned from travelling abroad without permission from Cleveland Police.
