The press service of the Kirovsk region department of the Federal Security Service (FSB) has published a report on detention of a hacker, who is charged with cracking VolgaTelecom's servers.

He developed malicious software and, the report says, used it to assault VolgaTelecom's server last December. This resulted in blocking the operator's resources, which are used for servicing around 10,000 subscribers. FSB did not take long to find the criminal, a system mechanical engineer from Nizhny Novgorod, who will soon be taken to court.

As a penalty he could face a three years in prison or a 200,000 rubles (US$7,6 thousand) fine.
