RED DEER -- A 51-year-old man, originally from Newfoundland and Labrador, was sentenced yesterday to three years in prison for taking pornographic photos of two teenage boys.

Maxwell Cecil Mason pleaded guilty to one count of making child pornography and three counts of breaching probation.

Mason tearfully apologized before being sentenced by Judge Bert Skinner. "I lost everything - my marriage, my kids, my brothers. They don't even talk to me," he said.

"When I went back home, it was completely different. They didn't even want me around."

Skinner noted Mason was much older than his victims and provided the cameras, location and transportation for the crime.

"There has to be a message sent to you and a message sent to the general public that conduct of this nature will not be condoned," he told Mason.
