With the economy in the dumps, online discounts may lead people away from the malls and onto the internet, but buyers beware.

In June, two men from Maywood and an accomplice from Chicago began posting erroneous ads on online to lure unsuspecting buyers to Maywood. Respondents to the ads, after agreeing to meet the sellers, would instead be robbed. The online items posted by the internet bandits for purchase were mostly computers and cell phones. When the sellers arrived they were greeted by gun point and robbed.

About 20 cases were reported. Police and U.S. marshals, in an undercover sting posing as buyers and sellers on Craigslist.org, arrested the trio last Wednesday.

Dwayne W. Morrow, 21, of 1015 S. 14th Ave in Maywood was taken into custody and chard with one count of attempted armed robber, aggravated armed robbery, two counts of theft, two counts of armed robbery, one count of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.
