It's a "get rich quick" type scam that's circulating on the internet through email.
The scammer asks residents to deposit a fake money order into an account, keep some of the money for themselves as a handling fee and then wire the balance back to the buyer.
Police have obtained both the original counterfeit money order and the mailing envelope.
Police say the envelope has several red flags on it.
