Retail businesses are an ideal target for cyber criminals plotting everything from credit and debit card fraud to identity theft. In fact, what has been described as the largest cyber crime operation to date targeted retailers.
As is often the case with the most severe cyberattacks, it took one of the main targets of that operation, the U.S.-based The TJX Companies, Inc., which owns Winners and HomeSense, almost a year-and-a-half to realize it was being hacked.
