Russian police nabbed a hacker

Unit fighting high tech crimes of the Liven Police Department, Russia initiated proceedings against a cashier of a local superstore of trading network "Magnit" belonging to superstore network "Tandem". About a year ago a young 23-year-old man managed to hack LAN passwords and several months in the end of his shifts has been deleting a part of his own cash reports charging off 500-1000 rubles ($15-30) each time. However in the late May 2004 an audit revealed a shortage.
After an internal investigation involving "Tandem's" security experts from Orel and Moscow, a local hacker was caught. Tuesday, June 1, all materials of the audit were brought to Liven Police Department, a criminal case was instigated. Computer hacker faces a fee of up to 300 of minimal wages and two years of jail.
