1. The OpenNet Initiative is an academic project. It is a partnership between the Citizen Lab at the Munk Centre for International Studies, University of Toronto, the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard Law School, and the Advanced Network Research Group at the Centre for Security in International Society at Cambridge University.
2. Ron Deibert is not a former hacker.
3. The Citizen Lab, a partner in the OpenNet Initiative, is a "hacktivist" lab -- referring to the original definition of the term hacker -- not a euphemism for a computer criminal. Therefore we are not "former" hackers: we are hackers.
