Police and Western Union representatives are investigating a wire-fraud case involving a Caravelle Drive woman.

Police said the woman wired $2,200 to a man in Glasgow, Scotland, in July as a down-payment on a car she planned to purchase. She later wired an additional $1,000 but as of Friday had not received delivery of the vehicle.

An Internet trading site that was supposed to have brokered the transaction told the victim that their computers had been hacked and the transaction was fraudulent, police said.
