Virus attack

Date: March 13, 2007

Anne Arundel County Circuit Court is taking a second look at how it digitizes court records after a computer virus sidelined the county government network for 24 hours this week.

It was the same virus that made headlines by attacking major media outlets across the nation.

Though Clerk of the Court Robert Duckworth called Wednesday's disruption "a hiccup," he said his office will incorporate lessons learned this week into its e-filing program as it moves away from paper records.

"We learned from that a little bit," Mr. Duckworth said. "Everything is a learning process. We learned some things yesterday with what we need to do with our e-filing pilot."
