Internet dating scam

A Salina woman told police she was duped out of $5,800 by someone she met on the Internet.

Valerie J. Kasselman sent the money to a person she had corresponded with over the Internet, expecting to be repaid, according to Barry Plunkett, deputy Salina police chief. The money orders sent to satisfy the debt were fraudulent, Plunkett said.
