Cyber-crime will win until we take a more robust attitude to IT security.
Putting the wagons into a circle (firewalls etc)is OK but the "wild west" wasn't won that way.
Only by legal warnings then totally disproportionate strike back to "take the buggers down" will in the long run save the country and users from cyber terror. Just like a real terrorist who isn't sorted out intil at least two head shots, an attacking PC is not stopped until it is totally trashed, a task that in many cases is trivial, as when they are attacking you , YOU are also connected to THEM!
Last year I spent time defending a foriegn site under attack from within the lawless parts of the Middle East. It would have been useless to call my local HTCU, if they had tried to enter the country they would have been shot or kidnapped. Violent, direct action was the only way to "take the buggers down!" (after a warning approved by a barrister!)
