A Finnish computer security firm yesterday warned of a so-called email worm called Luder-A or Tibs.jy that is spread with a new year's greeting.
The worm has been sent as an attachment named "postcard.exe" or similar in email messages with the subject line "Happy New Year!", the company, F-Secure, said.

If a user opened the attached file, it tried to find email addresses to which its sent copies of itself. The worm also tried to shut down the computer's safety programs, the company said.

F-Secure listed the Luder virus-worm as a level 2 on its three-scale list, saying it was a moderate danger to computers.
