FARGO, N.D. - A skin care clinic owner accused of e-mailing her former employer's patient database to herself has pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor computer crime.

Authorities say Melissa Rogne, 31, left the Center for Specialty Care in October to start her own business, and took the names, phone numbers and addresses of 3,000 patients with her.

Tim O'Keefe, Rogne's attorney, said she was authorized to send the e-mail and did nothing wrong. The database did not include confidential medical information, he said.

Rogne and Susan Mathison, owner of the Center for Specialty Care, also are involved in a civil lawsuit over the issue.
