Len Hynds, the outgoing head of the NHTCU, has been promoted to assistant chief constable with the National Crime Squad as business change and transition director.
Alongside the announcement of a new boss, the NHTCU unveiled a revamped website (nhtcu.org) introducing new features such as a crime reporting decision tree and top information security tips for small businesses. The website aims to become a single source of information about serious and hi-tech crime.
In almost related news, detective sergeant Steve Santorelli recently left the Computer Crime Unit at Scotland Yard to become a senior manager in Microsoft's Redmond-based internet safety investigations unit.
