EMC is upgrading its RepliStor asynchronous replication software to bring it in line with Microsoft’s Data Protection Manager (DPM)

Replistor 6.1 will work, like DPM, to allow recovery from the last snapshot, whenever that may have been. Both products use Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) to create point-in-time copies of data on the host server. Where EMC has the edge over Microsoft is that RepliStor now supports remote replication. EMC says the new version will be popular with its SMB customer base.
