The Legislature unanimously approved a bill that Attorney General Bill McCollum said Thursday will give Florida the nation's toughest penalties for sexual predators trolling the Internet for child victims.

''These are sick, perverted individuals. They have an insatiable appetite for children, to have sex with children,'' said Sen. Nancy Argenziano, R-Dunnellon, sponsor of the bill.

Rep. David Rivera, R-Miami, the House sponsor, added that ''we're sending the message throughout the nation that Florida is off-limits to sexual predators.''
