Cops get lessons to tackle cyber crime

n a bid to familiarise cops with the basics of cyber crime and hacking, a two-day cyber security and crime detection training programme was held in the city.

More than 60 police officers, comprising ASIs and officers of higher designation, participated in the training


programme organised by Nasscom, in partnership with Gurgaon Police Leadership and Cyber City Welfare Society.
The four-hour training program was conducted by industry professionals who had previously trained police officers in Hyderabad.

The training was conducted at the office of a leading technology firm on Tuesday and Wednesday. As cyber crime becomes a mainstream phenomenon, the Gurgaon Police Leadership is looking to make cyber crime detection a mainstream capability.

This initiative is a step toward developing cyber crime detection as a mainstream capability within the police.

“We are very pleased to partner with the industry in upgrading the skills of our officers. Our goal is to ensure a safe environment for citizens and businesses. In keeping with the times, we have to evolve to use technology and the web much more effectively and pervasively,” said Anil Kumar Rao, joint commissioner, Gurgaon police.

The session covered various topics such as phases of hacking cycle, ethical hacking, cyber crime, cyber forensics, identity theft, privacy, IT Act of 2000, among others.

“Gurgaon is a global technology hub. It provides mission-critical business services to the whole world. A lot of sensitive data is managed by our companies. We rely on the law enforcement officials for the security of our businesses, our employees, and our families,” said Subinder Khurana, chairman, Nasscom (Haryana).
