Former Home Secretary David Blunkett and South Yorkshire Chief Constable Meredydd Hughes have joined forces to launch a major initiative aimed at fighting business crime in Yorkshire.
The Business Crime Reduction Centre (BCRC) in Sheffield aims to reduce the impact of crime on economic growth and development.

The BCRC will help companies in Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield to tackle the problems caused by crime.

It will focus on combating computer crime, which sees hackers profit by transferring confidential company information.

The Sheffield-based charity behind the scheme, South Yorkshire People United Against Crime, has been awarded a £1.8m budget over three years to run the centre.

The centre will be supported by funding from Yorkshire Forward, the European Community and Objective 1.
