Stop Cybercrime Law enforcement agencies have increasingly turned to the Internet to identify and prosecute suspected sexual predators. Often they do this by masquerading as juveniles.
Prior to the Internet‚ said Kevin Harley‚ a spokesman for the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office‚ law enforcement agencies – including his office – attempted to identify predators by advertising in hard-core child pornography magazines. The advertisements were crafted to prompt would-be predators to make contact and eventually meet with undercover agents. The Internet‚ Harley said‚ has brought child pornography sites into private homes and increased law enforcement agencies’ ability to identify and prosecute suspected predators.
