Economic Crime Unit officers forecast increase in plastic bank cards frauds. Head deputy of the Economic Crime Unit of the Sverdlovsk region Sergei Suntzov said a number of frauds with Visa credit cards were fixed in 2003. 3 criminal proceedings were instigated. One of them encounters monetary losses of 900 thousand of Russian roubles (near 30 thousand of American dollars).
Suntzov said the mere facts of frauds were not so numerous, but they forecasted significant growth. These crimes will increase due to the increase in the number of credit cards and new appearing technical facilities.
