The Central Crime Suppression Police and Investigation Police arrested two men who carried out a theft of 28 million baht while guarding a cash safe box going to a bank in Bangkok. Chatchai Jongsirirat, aged 32, and Pichet Kraibutra, aged 29, were arrested in Phuket with over 6.4 million baht cash.

The two thieves pleaded guilty to the crime and told police that they have left 8 million baht of the stolen cash with a village headman in Phang Nga's Kasom Village while another lot of 11 million baht were hidden in a tank and luggage nearby. The two men confessed that they had spent the rest on two cars and a computer.

During the search at Phang Nga, another villager brought in 800,000 baht to police to show his innocence as he was asked to look after the cash by the village headman. The two thieves were taken to Bangkok for legal proceedings.
