Filipino nabbed for using child porn to solicit money on Net

Junart Reyes, 35, resident of unit 502 Velin Mansion on 84 Tolentino St., San Francisco del Monte in Quezon City, was arrested for violating section 9 of Republic Act 7610, also known as the "Special
Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act," the police report said.
His arrest followed a complaint from three minors, according to the Computer Crime Unit of the Anti-Transnational Crime Division (ATCD) of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG).
Police investigators said Reyes was allegedly using nude photos of young boys to solicit money from gay men at face-pic.com.
"He scours for possible gay victims in this website. This website is similar to Friendster. When he finds one, he emails them, showing nude photos of the children, then asks for money," said Capt. Nico Fuentes, senior inspector at the ATCD PNP-CIDG, in a telephone interview.
Upon his arrest, the police also discovered that Reyes had outstanding warrants for large scale estafa (fraud) and an illegal recruitment case in a Manila regional trial court, Fuentes said.
The case was referred to the ATCD PNP-CIDG since Reyes was using the Internet and a computer to perpetrate his crime, the police investigator added.
During a raid on the suspect's home on January 29, 2005, the police seized his computer and its peripherals, including printers, web camera, CD writers, caller ID device, and memory cards. The police also seized documents containing e-mails and identification cards bearing the picture of the suspect with different names.
Police conducted the raid with ABS-CBN program "Magandang Gabi Bayan," the police report indicated.
