110 child porn counts leveled against man
(By Will Greenlee )

PORT ST. LUCIE -- A local man arrested last month for allegedly sending pornographic pictures of children to an undercover sheriff's detective was charged Thursday with more than 110 counts of child pornography, arrest records show.

Lawrence Henry Luperini, 55, was charged Oct. 16 with transmission of child pornography by electronic device after someone using a screen name billed to Luperini began conversing Oct. 2 with Detective Neil Spector in an America Online chatroom, sheriff's reports show.

During one of the chats, the suspect allegedly said he'd traveled to Mexico many times and "played with both boys and girls."

The suspect also told Spector, who was posing as a father of 12- and 13-year-old children, that he collected "pics" and asked Spector whether he had anything to trade.

Assistant State Attorney Kathryn Nelson said Friday the recent charges stem from pictures found on computer floppy disks and computers in Luperini's home. She said sheriff's investigators found the items during a search of his home.

Specor said the pictures "ranged from infants to about 12 years old" and were "absolutely deplorable." About 60 floppy disks and two computers were found in Luperini's home.

The suspect sent Spector several pornographic pictures and -- in the error-ridden text common to Internet chat rooms -- wrote "for me they cant be yng enough," reports show.

The suspect told Spector he'd had sex with 14- to 16-year-old children while traveling in Mexico and he had a video of nude children shot at a nudist camp. He also said he met a man in Melbourne with a 10-year-old boy and had sex with both, reports show.

Spector eventually spoke on the phone to Luperini, who allegedly told Spector he has had sex with boys and girls -- the youngest being 8 -- and lives in a trailer in Port St. Lucie.

Luperini was held in the St. Lucie County Jail Friday on $795,000 bail, a jail official said.
